The Awesome Shakeout

       Shakeout For PVS       

On Wednesday 26th of September everyone in PVS did this thing called a shakeout people were hoping that 1,000,000 people would do the shakeout all we had to do was DROP, COVER, HOLD and then we did a headcount and told Mrs Thorpe that we were all here.

Today was the final of the Middle School Speech Competition. Room 30 was represented by Sharan and Natasha who both did a brilliant job. They spoke clearly, with good volume and used actions and expression to add interest to what they were saying. We are very proud of both of them!

Shakeout

Today is Wednesday 26 September.

Today our whole school did Shakeout. Some people in the office said, "Shakeout!", and we all went under the table and put our hand on our head. Another hand held something and after 3 minutes the people in the office said, "Well done!", and we stood up. After that we went to our field. Mrs Parr said,  "Well done everyone. You all waited 3 minutes." After that we went back to our classroom.

The Shake Out

Today we did the shake out. If you don't know what the shake out is, i'll tell you. The shake out is an earthquake drill. You have to drop,cover and hold until the drill is over. Then we had to go out on the field and the teacher had to count us all up so we don't loose anybody. Once we finished we went back to class and did what we were supposed to do.

Horses

Can I tell you about horses well there is lots of types of horses there even was a dinosaur horse witch was the fist horse in the whole world and then came our horses today. Horses come in all shapes and sizes horses also come handy in the olden days like they us to pule carts of food,gold and lots lots more when they were handy they also did horse races so the people who were por and they needed to get money they would put there horse into a race to get money.

sausage sizzle

Every term we have a sausage sizzle. It's one the biggest days of the term because its really fun and you can get delicious sausages and a 500 milliliter tropical juice bottle. The juice cost two dollars fifty and the sausages cost two dollars. We have parent helpers to grill the sausages on the barbeque. It's a really hard job espesically because its so hot. They also have to grill enough sausages for almost the entire school! Now i know this sounds awesome but theres more to it because every sausage sizzle we also have mufti day! For those of you who haven't heard of mufti day it's when you dress up with casual clothes and you have to bring a gold coin donation.


 All the money which is used is fundraising for our very own school, to get more electronic gadgets or to get some more sport equipment.

Holidays

In the school holidays I'd like to go to Australia: To go to all the fun places like dream world and sea world!


In the school holidays I'd like to go roller skating with my friends: To enjoy some time with them and to have loads of fun!


In the school holidays I'd like to go on the worlds fastest water slide: Just for fun!


In the school holidays I'd like to make a world record: So I can be on the Genius book of world records


But those are just ideas for all I need is the television remote and some popcorn :-)

Sausage sizzles

Last friday was sausage sizzles.  If you don't know what sausage sizzles is ,i'll tell you. Sausage sizzle is when you order sausages or a drink. This time I ordered two sausages and no drink. It was really yum! We did not  just get on plain sausage if you thought that. We had a bread with the sausage on top. We also got to choose whether we have sauce or not. On sausage sizzle day their is also mufti day. Mufti day is when you don't wear school uniform and can wear what ever you want. I love sausage sizzle day and mufti day because the sausages are yummy!!!

Olivia's Party

On the 26th of September Olivia is turning 9 and is having her party on the 29th because she wants to celebrate her last year of being a 1 digit number with her friends and family.

Olivia is a girl and has her best friends coming to celebrate her party with her.One of her friends is Hayley. Hayley is scared of Olivia's brother Matthew so she does not want to come to her party but she is and she is going to have a great time at the party.

The games that we will be playing at the party are...toss the balloon(full of water),chop the chocolate,water fight with togs on,lolly scramble,dance comp and sit on the balloon until it pops so you can get the lolly out of it.

The people that are coming are Samantha,Sharan,Hayley and Morgan and also me Olivia.

The prizes that are going to be given out are slinkes and shiney rocks.

Olympians visit

Yesterday (22.9.12) the famous gold medalists and silver medalist came to our school.  Their names are Peter Burling,Jo Aleh and Olivia Powrie.  Their sports is sailing. Jo and Olivia are partners.  This is the first year for Olivia to be in the Olympics.  It is the second time for Jo and Peter to be in the Olympics. Sailing is a popular sport in New Zealand. If you haven't heard of what sailing is, then i'll tell. Sailing is a sport on the water. The sail boat has a mast. It is shaped like a semi-triangle. One person hangs out of the boat to make the boat balanced. The other person steers the boat.

The great assembly started.  First we sang the national anthem when we finished we sat down.  Then we answered some questions.  I asked '' are you going in the Olympics next year", and they said "maybe".  After we sang six months in a leaky boat. We had a great time.  We get to have a poster and their signature.  This is the end of the special assembly. Hope you enjoyed it as much as us!!!!!!!!!!!!

On yesterday Olympic people came to Point View School we have three people came there. One person name is Olivia Powrie Olivia powriae is won one gold middle. Another person name is Peter Burling he is won one soliver middle. Last person name is Jo Aleh Jo Aleh is won gold middle too!
Their 3 people like Blue and green and we give Olympic people one specs assembly some people alsk him some question.It was my fist time look Olympic people!

Mrs Sidhwa

This week all our principals have gone to a conference so Mrs Sidhwa got the job for the week. We congratulated her by giving her some poems that we made her later in that week. We made it in to a book that Malin and Adrian brought to her and about a day after she said "Thank you, you were the only class that gave me something at all''

Our principal is going to Australia. So the teacher need to talk about who will be the principal for a week. Mrs Par (principal) choose Mrs Sidhwa. When Mrs Sidhwa was the principal we (us) wrote a Poem.We decorated  it with a beautiful pictures.When we had finished them Malin & Adrian take the poem to the principal.She said that she really enjoy it.When we doing our speech Mrs Sidhwa came to our class and told us that we all can get 25 house points each.I think Mrs Sidhwa is the best principal ever.I wish that Mrs Sidhwa will be our principal ever!!!!  

World Vision Kids For Kids Concert

On Tuesday 18 of September 7 schools went to the World Vision Kids For Kids Concert and sang 17 amazing songs while superb singer Suzanne Prentice sang with us and helped us on the rehersal in the morning.Suzanne helped us with the actions and how to learn the songs at home because that night we had the real concert and all 7 schools only had 1 rehersal together at the real place we were going to preform.

in the real concert we were told by our music teacher Miss Allen and Suzanne to wear our most colourful clothes with lots and lots of makeup(the makeup is only for the girls faces because they are so pretty  and boys don't wear makeup).

finally its the night of the concert and all the singers at this school and at the other schools are very nervos and wondering if they will remember the words of all the songs and all the actions for the songs.

Finally the show starts and Suzanne is late again but makes it in time and is ready for the show.We are all ready and the show starts and from the start to the end we all knew our words and actions.

I loved the show because it was amazing to sing in it and because it was magnificent to watch too.

This week we have a new principal for the week her name is mrs Sidhwa but only for this week she is principal.

We have writen  her some letters and one of the things we said was paint the school purple and open the filed and guess what she did not paint the school purple she opened the filed.

At the Airport

Hello everybody I was just at the Airport to go to New Zealand.So right now I'm in New Zealand so I shall tell you about what happened in the Airport.so I was in the Airport and the first place we took a flight to was Amsterdam I don't know if you've heard of that city but it is in holland.It was only 2 hours and about 40 minutes not too long but it was o.k there we're no movie computers because the flight was to short but I found something to do.second flight was kuala lumpur I think you spell it like that.but it is in malaysia though. it took about 10 hours in the plane but this time there we're computers for every seat there are about 100 seats because the plane is 2 room 1 on top of the other.So when I got bored I just slept and the weird part about sleeping for me is that time goes faster.So when we got there,there was one more plane and that was the plane to new zealand.I did the same things in the other plane like watching movies and sleeping.So after a long time we made to our destination. by Adrian

Point View's Hive

  Today I am going to talk about our school hive. Ok so when I say"school hive" you would think that
  it's like a beehive or something, but it's actually a place where you can take care of plants and when
  they become quite big you can propagate it. You can also learn how to grow plants without the soil!
  in the hive there is a big sandpit to play in, the hive also has a big maze that you can go through, thou
  the trees around it is not that big because the trees were only planted last year.

Buddy Class

Buddy Reading Class

Hi my name is Simran I am going to tell you about room 30's  buddy reading class and what buddy reading class is. The fit thing I am going to tell you about is when we go to buddy reading class? We go on every signal friday. Now I am going to tell you what buddy class is and what we do when we go there. Well the first thing we do when we get to their class or they come to our class we have to find our buddy at the start of the year everybody in room 30 got to chose a buddy to stay with the whole year. The second thing we have to do is find a book to read that is what buddy reading is you sit down and read a book together with your'e buddy. Sometimes if we are really lucky we don't have to read to them because our teacher lets us do fun things with our buddy. Like one friday when we went to our buddy reading class it was the end of the term so we got to watch a movie called Madacascar with our buddy's.

Hi I am Samantha and I'm her to talk about the choir at our school. This term we are practising for the kids for kids concert which is on the 18 of September. For the kids for kids concert we have to practise 20 songs.  Our music teacher miss Allen who's helping practise these 20 songs. We also have a dress rehearsal at lunch time. The kids for kids concert starts at 7:30 and ends at 9:00 

Some time in March we had to audition to be in the choir me Sharan Morgan and Jessica are all in the choir this year. I hope we all get in the choir next year.

playgrounds

At school there is three playgrounds. In the juniors there is a playground for the year 0,1,2. Then there is a playground for the 2,3,4 the year twos get to go on it on wednesday.on the senior playground the year 4s get to go on the playground on wednesday the year ,5,6. have it for the rest of the week.

All the playgrounds have got new shades for the playgrounds so no one will get sunburned.

Sports at pvs

At Point View School we do lots of fun and interesting sports for example...soccer,rugby,gymnastics and lots more.Every Tuesday and Thursday the Middle School has sports in the afternoons and in the mornings.Doing Jump Jam in the mornings wakes us up and in the afternoons we do year 4 sports just to get fit and to have fun.

Sometimes our Technology Teacher Mr Rankin has additions for the Middle School soccer team and all the girls which want be in the team have to miss out because of our other sports because of the commitment we signed.(but i'd rather go to Gymnastics instead)

Every year at Point View School we have Cross Country and we all have to compete and every year I come first or second.

This sport is called Bash It's really fun!

Point View School has lots of sports and I love it.

Houses

Hi,

I'm going to tell you about houses. Now i'm not going to tell you about the houses which you live in, i'm going to tell you about the houses where you get house points. Point view primary has houses based on islands in New Zealand. These houses include Motuihe, Motutapu, Rangitoto and the biggest one of all Waiheke. We have an assembley every Friday and this is when all the house points are collided together. However it is very intense when the house points are about to be annouced because you don't know who is going to win. We also have a house shield, this indicates who is winning, who is tied and who is losing. Anyway as you can see this is the house shield and you can see who is winning. The pins which are coloured blue is Motutapu, the red coloured  pins are Waiheke, the green coloured pins are Rangitoto and the yellow coulered pins are Motuihe. Anyway no matter if you're winning or losing we'll still be friends.

THE HALL IS THE BIGGEST BUILDING IN YHE SCHOOL!!! IT IS WHERE  WE PLAY REALLY COOL SPORTS, LIKE HOCKEY, BUT NOT ICE HOCKEY BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE AN ICE SKATING RINK [I WISH WE DID THOUGH!] IT IS ALSO WHERE WE PRACTISE BALL SKILLS WITH MRS. KILLEN OUR SPORTS TEACHER. BYE!

ICT Suite

Hi I am Jeffrey and I will tell you all about the ICT Suite. The ICT Suite is a room with lots of computers. On every Thursday our class go to the ICT Suite and work on something. Also there are days for the junior school,middle school and senior school. On every Thursday lunchtime it's the middle schools turn. We can play games like cool math games and Mathletics. At the ICT Suite there is always a teacher looking al what games we're playing. We are not allowed to play any violent games or we get banned from the ICT Suite.

Table tennis

Hi my name is Brian and we are doing quadblogging so I chose table tennis.  I play table tennis nearly everyday with my friends.  You should play it in your place if you do you should encourage more people to play it too.  In our school we have 2 table tennis tables behind the field.  I hope you like the picture of my friends playing table tennis!!!!!!!!

Hi my name is Peter and I am from point view school.  Today I'm here to tell you about computers and stuff like that.  Point view school has laptops I pads and I pods to support our learning.  They are all apple.  We have lots of fun well we learn.

Mufti days

At Point View we have lots of fun days but one of the best is Mufti days.

Mufti days are when you come to school in clothes that is not your uniform then we usely have a f un day like fun time lunch time.

We have to put in a gold coin on a chart and its always for a good resson like people that have no money.

On mufti days its lots of fun all the time every one has fun.

Music at PVS

 Hi my name is Archisha. I am going to tell you about Point View's music class. Our music class teacher is Mrs Allen. She is wonderful at singing and playing the piano too. Everyone loves her singing  voice and piano playing. She can learn any song in a few seconds as well, she can play any song that you want her to play. She loves playing the piano and other instruments too. Our old piano teacher Mrs Wymer was as good as her too. We don't know where she is, but some people say that she is at a another school teaching music. Mrs Allen even teaches piano. She is really good at teaching piano. She's a really good music teacher.

Having Trips

Point View School is really lucky to have trips and my name is Kaitlyn. Do you know that you can go anywhere like Auckland Zoo? When we went there, we saw a meercat. It was sleeping I think and  we  also saw two red panda they are quite cute. When we went there it AWESOME!!!

Year3, Year 4 and Year 5  go to swimming. Last week on Friday Room 30 did lifesaving. I really like to go swimming, mostly the lifejacket time. Do you like to go swimming?  

We also went to the Botanic Gardens. We saw lots of plants like the one that smells like lemon.

Father's day

 Father's day!

On 2th of September 2012 it was Father's day!!!I didn't have anything to give to my dad so i wrote him a card.So at the afternoon we made stuffed chicken wrapped in bacon and beef and mushroom burger!So at night when we said happy father's day!He was so surprised!I was glad.And so i had the best father's day i've ever had!I think this the end so BYE BYE!:D

fathers day

On saturday was my special fathers day because my dad be there on sunday.It was the last day of my netball games and the hole team went to quirk it was strange.The strange thing was the doors where for the tables which in opinion is hard to explain.It was lots of fun. It was a dessert place which had the nicest ice cream and smoothies it was hard to choose what you wanted. It was a fun special fathers day.

What my favourite sport is

What is my favourite sport? It's not swimming, it's not rugby and it's not tennis. It's table tennis! I chose table tennis because it involves a lot of action and the speed of the ball is miraculous. Second of all if you get a good bat and good technique, hitting the ball will be simple. Plus there's all ways room for improvement and once you have mastered hitting you can add spin and speed. These types of spin include backspin, sidespin and topspin.

Anyway I think you probably know by now why table tennis is my favourite sport and since i just had to tell you that then i guess this is the end. Bye-bye :)

Speeches

We are starting our speeches. We have to choose an Olympic person and write about them. We have started our speeches and are typing them on Pages. We all brang information for our speeches so we can learn more about the olympic person. When we finish our speeches we have to share them to the class. We also have to have eye contact read our speech clearly.The people who have the best speeches go to the speech finals.There is people who get first second or third.

Pegion Mountin BMX Track

Pigeon Mountin BMX Track

On sundays, me, my dad and one or two of my friends go to the Pigeon Mountain BMX Track.

 Believe it or not we don't fall off very much!

My favourite part of the BMX track is, the part is where the corners are, because they come right up onto a curve so you are almost on your side, so that means if your tyres don't have good traction (Traction is grip) your tyres will slip and you will crash, and some times you can't stand up.

 The other part  is the double bumps where there is only a tiny part of a gap, and some times one bump goes underneath and out sometimes it gives you a surprise. At the start of the track there is a big downhill slope and then a big bump so you don't fly off the corner straight after the bump. Otherwise it would be so painful. 

Now I am saving up for a silver and blue helmet and some new gloves and possibly a new Avanti BMX bike (Avanti is a brand of bikes).

I recommend that you come to the BMX track as long as yu are brave and you are 8+.

The New Season has started so I will be riding on fridays

my pets

Hi my name is Olivia and today i'm going to tell you about my pets.
The first pet I had was a dog named tom I was a few months old when my family brought him and my brother would run around the house with a cookie and tom would get what he wanted in the end and he wanted the cookie and then my brother would cry because he didn't finish the cookie.
The second pet we had was my cat Cloie saddly she died like tom she was blind so she had to be put down.
The latest pets are Max Gizmo and m dog Chealse.Max and Gizmo are my cats and they sleep on my bed my sisters bed or my brothers bed.

Gymnastics Competition

In Point View School we have a gymnastics team and me and my friends are in it.We have to do a beam routine and a floor routine but the main thing the year 4 girls team are working on is the vault because you have to have your back straight and stick your landing.Everyone is very nervous I suppose because the Gymnastics Competition is on Wednesday 5 of September and we have to be ready to win.I am very nervous and I know that my friends are too!

A cow boy goes to town on friday and stays 3 days and leaves on friday.

On the 29th of August Room30 had to walk from point view to botany down's secondary college. First we cheered for the year 3 boys and girls.After those people went it was our turn to run a 1800m. The teacher said on your marks get set GO! all of the people ran as fast as they can and finally... josh came first jacob second and third was jonnathan. All the peole tried there hard and there best to run 1800m.
