Wheels day

On Thursday 6th of December we had Wheels day. Wheels day is very cool and happens every year so      we always have to make the most of it. On Wheels day you can bring anything as long as it includes the following:  scooters, skateboards, remote control cars, shoes with wheels (called Heelys), roller skates and bikes.  We have three syndicates in our school and on Wheels day each syndicate goes at a different time.  But because we have so many kids at ours school we can't have all the wheels at on particular place. That's why we have one area in the school for each type of wheels. This year the bikes were on the field, the scooters were on the senior courts, the Heelys and roller skates were on the middle school courts. This year our syndicate got to go in the morning before break.

Anyway all i'm trying to tell you is that Wheels day is AWESOME! If you don't have it in your school you definitely should

Orca Mufti Day

Today it was an Orca Mufti Day. It happens once a year and you have to dress up in black and white. The day has lots of activities and raffles. They also have really yummy food such as cupcakes, cookies, sea-spray candy and the Orca's favourite food....... Stingray liver.
The organiser is a teacher who won the most inspiring teacher in New Zealand...... Ms Norton! She always organises the Orca competitions, food, games and raffles. Point View school is very lucky because we are currently the only school fundraising for Orcas! We also get to meet Dr. Ingrid Visser who is the person who saves almost all the Orcas Worldwide! What a privilege!

We hope you can help save the Orcas too!

What Are The Stars? (metaphor)

The stars are little balls of fire, burning in the night.
They are your navigation, when you're lost in darkness.
They are little bombs just ready to explode in to a bright gleaming light.
They are millions of shiny bullets shot up in to the sky.

sausage sizzle

Every term we have a sausage sizzle. It's one the biggest days of the term because its really fun and you can get delicious sausages and a 500 milliliter tropical juice bottle. The juice cost two dollars fifty and the sausages cost two dollars. We have parent helpers to grill the sausages on the barbeque. It's a really hard job espesically because its so hot. They also have to grill enough sausages for almost the entire school! Now i know this sounds awesome but theres more to it because every sausage sizzle we also have mufti day! For those of you who haven't heard of mufti day it's when you dress up with casual clothes and you have to bring a gold coin donation.

All the money which is used is fundraising for our very own school, to get more electronic gadgets or to get some more sport equipment.

Houses

Hi,

I'm going to tell you about houses. Now i'm not going to tell you about the houses which you live in, i'm going to tell you about the houses where you get house points. Point view primary has houses based on islands in New Zealand. These houses include Motuihe, Motutapu, Rangitoto and the biggest one of all Waiheke. We have an assembley every Friday and this is when all the house points are collided together. However it is very intense when the house points are about to be annouced because you don't know who is going to win. We also have a house shield, this indicates who is winning, who is tied and who is losing. Anyway as you can see this is the house shield and you can see who is winning. The pins which are coloured blue is Motutapu, the red coloured  pins are Waiheke, the green coloured pins are Rangitoto and the yellow coulered pins are Motuihe. Anyway no matter if you're winning or losing we'll still be friends.

What my favourite sport is

What is my favourite sport? It's not swimming, it's not rugby and it's not tennis. It's table tennis! I chose table tennis because it involves a lot of action and the speed of the ball is miraculous. Second of all if you get a good bat and good technique, hitting the ball will be simple. Plus there's all ways room for improvement and once you have mastered hitting you can add spin and speed. These types of spin include backspin, sidespin and topspin.

Anyway I think you probably know by now why table tennis is my favourite sport and since i just had to tell you that then i guess this is the end. Bye-bye :)

swimming at Lloyd Elsmore

Every Friday Room 30 goes to swimming at Lloyd Elsmore pool and have a great time. We are ranged at various levels. Level one features kicking, streamline and getting a go at a bit of backstroke. In level two you try to master breathing and stamina while doing freestyle and backstroke. Level three consists full laps of butterfly, freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and finally streamline. Once they've mastered that they can go on to two three, and four laps without stopping.

Mini Olympics!!!

MINI OLYMPICS!!

On Tuesday 14 of August the whole middle school did Mini Olympics. We practised events which we were going to perform in.  The events included shape box, hula hooping, skipping, bat and ball and finally the bum shuffling!!

The first event was shape box boys and our competitors were Kyle and Samuel both of them did well but unfortunately Kyle came fourth and Samuel came sixth but we still had hope and our hope came true because for the shape box girls Olivia got a bronze!!!

The second event was skipping which went well with room 30 when Jeffrey and Kyle came third (it was a lot of luck) but Ethan and Taine came a close fourth just not doing well enough to win a medal but both had great sportsmanship and gave there best effort.

On Friday the 29th of June it was Wacky Hair Day.  We had to dress up in hats, wigs or just spike up our hair and put things on them such as materiels or hair spray. We all looked very weird but it was worth it.  We took photos of our class and gave out certificates to the people with the wackiest hair!!  Here is one of the photos of our class with wacky hair.

Calendar art

On Friday 14 of June room 30 did calendar art. We had to draw a Taniwha (Maori guardian) I drew a fling Taniwha which could also go in water. Firstly we drew our Taniwha in our everything book, then we did a copy on our calendar paper, after that we drew over it with vivid. Then we put our art shirts on and got a signal to go and start to dye. When we finished that we left it to dry.
